Sir Alex Ferguson touted Federico Macheda for big things after his impressive start at the club in 2009 but the Italian striker failed to live up to the standards set in his first two games for the Red Devils.

Federico Machedais strong, athletic and a good finisher according to the legendary Manchester United manager via the interview with MUTV in 2009. The former Manchester United manager said that the club didn’t sign any player because of Macheda and the club has big hopes for the player.

FEDERICO MACHEDA: SERIE A CAREER UNVEILED

Italian striker Federico Macheda started his career in the Lazio youth setup but the player didn’t make any appearance for the senior team before he left for Manchester United. The 29-year-old started his football career professionally at Manchester United and he made an early impact at the club. Big things were expected but Federico Macheda was not able to fulfill those expectations. Federico Macheda was sent on loan to Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A after the player requested for the move. He left Manchester United to sign for Sampdoria on loan in January 2011 and the Italian attacker has admitted that it was a wrong move. Federico Macheda rued his decision to return to Italy in one of his recent interviews. He didn’t score any goal in 14 league games for Sampdoria during his time at the club.Sampdoria saw Federico Macheda as the man to replace Antonio Cassano at Sampdoria after the Italian international left the club to sign for AC Milan. Macheda was unable to replace Antonio Cassano adequately. His debut for Sampdoriacame in the 2-1 win over AS Roma. He came on as a substitute during that game with the club based in the Italian capital of Rome.

FEDERICO MACHEDA: CLUB CAREER PATH REVEALED

Italian striker Federico Macheda is a classic example of a football journeyman having played for ten clubs professionally but he has been able to enjoy a stable club career at Panathinaikos in the Greek top flight. He has been performing well for Panathinaikos since signing for them in 2018. Federico Macheda started his career in the Lazio Academy before he was signed by Premier League giants Manchester United in 2007.

He spent the majority of his debut season at Manchester United with the club’s academy before he made his first team bow to good effect towards the end of that season. He wrote his name in lights when he came off the bench to rescue Manchester United against Aston Villa at home in the Premier League. Federico Macheda scored the winning goal in a 3-2 win and that victory was  crucial to Manchester United winning the league title that season ahead of arch rivals Liverpool. MACHEDA REVEALS FERGUSON CONTACT YEARS LATER

Panathinaikos striker Federico Macheda has revealed that legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson called him last year to check on his well-being. Federico Macheda made a big break as an unknown youngster under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United but he was unable to sustain it as his professional football career embarked on a downward slope until he found consistency in Greece in the colours of Panathinaikos.

Italian player Federico Macheda stunned the Premier League as a 17-year-old attacker when he scored the winning goal for the Red Devils in a tough league match at home to Aston Villa. Manchester United were in serious danger of losing their lead at the Premier League summit with Rafael Benitez and Liverpool closing in on the Old Trafford giants after two successive league defeat. Manchester United were on their way to a third consecutive defeat against Villa before Federico Macheda intervened. His big moment at home to Aston Villa back to life in the title race.

MACHEDA: FROM GOLDEN BOY TO NOMAD

 

Italian striker Federico Machedaburst onto the scene as a 17-year-old at Manchester United and a lot of great things were expected from him, but he has not been able to live up to those expectations. He came to Old Trafford from the Lazio Academy as a teenager and the striker got his breakthrough moment as a second half substitute in the Premier League clash at home to Aston Villa in April 2009 with his team bidding for the Premier League title.


Macheda came on as a 17-year-old with Manchester United trailing 2-1 at home tothe Midlands club. Five-timeBallond’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo pulled the Red Devils level before Macheda wrote his name in lights by grabbing the winning goal of the game as the hosts won 3-2.

MASON GREENWOOD TO SIGN NEW DEAL

 

Manchester United are set to almost double the wages of youngster Mason Greenwood, per reports. He has established himself as a player not just with potential but one willing to work. The 18-year old signed a deal in October 2019 but his 16 goals this season has forced the Red Devils to make plans to double his wages to keep away admirers.


The October deal was reportedly worth 25,000 pounds per week, but he will now earn at least 40,000 pounds. There are bonuses, clauses and increases as he continues to impress. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is fond of the player and has him in his plans for the club for next season.

OSIMHEN INTERESTED IN EPL MOVE

 

According to French outlet La Voix du Nord, Chelsea have been handed a major boost in the pursuit of Lille forward Victor Osimhen. The outlet claims that Osimhen is keen on making a move to the Premier League in the summer.


Although several clubs in Italy have inquired about the 21-year-old’s availability during the lockdown, the Nigerian youngster has declared to close associates that his preferred destination is the Premier League, following an exceptional debut season in France Lille. The Nigerian international was brought in to replace another EPL-bound player, Nicolas Pepe. The Ivorian international joined the Gunners in a club record deal.

FODEN HOPES CUP FINAL WILL CONVINCE ENGLAND MANAGER

 Manchester City starlet Phil Foden believes his impressive performance in the league cup final has caught the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate. The England international was named Man of the Match in the final, and he hopes his display will be enough to convince the watching England manager when making his choices for the European championship selection.

The highly rated Foden, an Under-17 World Cup winner in 2017, has been talked of as a future England international for some time but his lack of appearances for City has so far prevented a call-up.

SHEARER HAPPY FOR GREENWOOD

Even if sad stories like that of Federico Macheda and Adnan Januzaj still remains deeply rooted in the minds of Manchester United fans, the emergence of teenagers in line with the tradition Busby introduced and Sir Alex Ferguson popularized remains till this day.

As disappointing as this season has been for the Red Devils, the sight of Marcus Rashford, Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood all playing a part to save the club from sinking remains a joyous sight to behold for all lovers of tradition and history.

MANCHESTER UNITED OFFER GREENWOOD A NEW CONTACT.

Manchester United are said to have offered young forward a new deal that will keep him at the club for the nearest futures. Greenwood is regarded as one of the top prospects from the youth teams and the club is trying to tie him to a long term deal.

Greenwood is also tricky and possesses quality with his ability on the ball no doubt.  The 17-year-old has been effective in the Europa League and is seen as the future of the club.  United are thought to be looking at the player as a temporary solution to their injury crises.
